Out on the Range

Family Horseback Riding

Last weekend was a fun long weekend for us which is why I missed a few days of posting.  Grandma and Grandpa came to Arizona for business, so we headed over to spend some time with them.  Grandpa decided that it would be fun for us all to go horseback riding while they were here.  Due to the fact that it’s still rather warm here, we had to get up early in the morning, but we all agreed that it was worth it.  It was nice that we avoided the thunderstorms that took place during our last horseback riding adventure.

Early Sunday morning, after we picked up Grandma and Grandpa, we headed over to the Spur Cross Stable for our early morning ride.  Shortly after we started our ride, we saw a coyote just a little ways off the trail.  This trail ride was unique as we didn’t stay on a well traveled path.  We headed up hills to overlook the valleys below.  We worked our way around lots of cactus and avoided washed out areas.  We saw old mines.  One mine was now home to a family of coyotes.  We felt like we were out riding in the old west – we were riding out on the range.
