Rising Temps

Thermometer

Project 365 – #091

I blinked and the temperatures went soaring.  It’s hard to believe it’s only April 1st when I look at the thermometer and step outside.  (And no, it’s not raining nor is there a chance of rain. I’m not sure why the thermometer does that.)  Earlier this week, we received a notice that the base pools would be opening today.  Yep, the summer temps are starting to creep in already.  The air conditioning is on full blast as I try to keep the upstairs at a comfortable temperature for sleeping.

Running the ac on the 1st of April – before Easter – is such a strange concept for a gal who grew up in the cold North.  The fact is we’ve been running the ac on and off throughout the winter months.  They really should consider duel air conditioning in 2-story houses in this area.

Munchkin and her friends have been coming up with ways to stay cooler such as water balloons and sprinklers.

For me, the hotter weather means less time baking and fewer trips exploring the desert (unless we’re in an air conditioned vehicle).

Yes, summer is definitely right around the corner for us.  While other parts of the country dream of spring, we are beginning to start spending more time indoors away from the scorching sun and parched desert air.

How are the temperatures in your area today?

I live in central Texas. It was 93 yesterday and we are in drought. My water bill here this past month was $2.00 more than my electric bill and my gas bill combined. That is not super watering either, that is just enough to keep the plants a live and do wash for the family.
I have lived in the north before and I much prefer that. I hate this heat. If our whole family did not live here I know we would move back north.
Your blog is a wonderful breath of fresh air and it reminds me of ‘old days’ as a Marine wife.
