Sitting on NestProject 365 – #098

That little bird has chosen his shelter.
Above it are the stars and the deep heaven of worlds.
Yet he is rocking himself to sleep
without caring for tomorrow’s lodging,
calmly clinging to his little twig,
and leaving God to think for him.

~ Martin Luther ~

Leaving God to think for him.  Hmm… maybe I could learn a thing or two from the birds.

We are once again blessed to have a bird’s nest in the tree next to our house.  Munchkin was rather concerned that the birds would not be there this year as the base housing landscapers really pruned back the tree earlier last month.  She was rather excited when she looked up one day and saw that a next had been built.

On Wednesday, she asked me to try to get a picture of the mama bird in the nest.  Seeing how I am short and the nest was higher in the tree than last year, a ladder was a must to even get a glimpse of the mama bird.  The mama is very peaceful and just stares right at you when you peak at her nest.  I have no doubt that she’d go after me if I tried to get too close though.

After I took a couple of pictures, Munchkin asked if she could climb up and see the mama bird.  She can’t wait to see the babies this year.  They seem to grow extremely fast, so we’ll have to keep a close eye on things.
