RedEnvelope
D and I had fun picking our our Valentine’s Gift with the gift certificate that we received from RedEnvelope. We decided to get something practical and something beautiful. I was surprised by the great selection available. There was truly a little something for everyone. The ordering process was very easy. We set up delivery for today – February 11th.
What did we decide to order? Well, we chose the Nickname Coffee Cups and the Growers Choice Bouquet with square glass vase. The Grower’s Choice “bouquet includes grower’s choice of either a beautiful mix of assorted flowers or a single type of flower, like tulips.” The Nickname Coffee Cups were $34.95 , and the Growers Choice Bouquet with square vase was on sale for $26.98 (normal price for the bouquet is $29.99 plus $9.99 for the square vase). The standard shipping was $9.99, and we needed to pay an additional $4.99 for rush delivery to receive it in time for this review date. Okay, now that we have the nitty gritty stuff out of the way, I’m sure you want to hear about the actual goodies!!!
We were surprised when the coffee cups arrived earlier this week, but we were very pleased by how nice the quality is on them. We had to laugh as we apparently made a mistake during the ordering process as poor D has a pink inside on his Marine cup while I have the solid red interior for my Marine Wife cup. Good thing he is secure in his manhood. lol! These cups are both microwave and dishwasher safe which is always a plus. The only downside (which appears to be our mistake) is the pink inside for D’s cup instead of mine. **grin**
Today, the flowers arrived. I opened the box and was very pleased with how carefully the flowers and vase were packaged. Munchkin squealed when she saw all the different colors of roses. The roses were a bit wilted when they arrived, but after a good soak in the water, they revived. I pealed off the outer, not-so-pretty layers of petals (as advised in the directions), pruned many of the unsightly leaves, and trimmed the stem before placing them in the vase. Obviously, the vase was not made for a dozen roses without any filler, but the vase is very pretty. The colors of the roses are very nice as I personally enjoy different a variety of roses.
When you purchase the Grower’s Choice bouquet, you are taking a chance on what you will get. Because this was the Valentine’s Grower’s Choice bouquet, some people may have been disappointed that the bouquet consisted of a dozen various colored roses (red, yellow, peach, pink, purple). (As noted, I like the different colors, so this was not an issue for us.) I would have liked to have seen some baby’s breath and ferns in the mix to fill out the bouquet.
Our overall impressions: The ordering process was painless and easy. While everything arrived in a timely manner, we would have preferred that both gift items would have at least arrived on the same day instead of days apart. This is one time when something arriving faster isn’t necessarily better. The flowers are lovely, and I look forward to seeing how long they last with proper care. If you are looking for a specific floral arrangement, the grower’s choice probably isn’t the best decision, but if you don’t mind a surprise, then it could be a good choice.
As a military spouse, I appreciate the services that RedEnvelope provides as it allows military families to stay connected when they are apart on special occasions. Receiving something special from a loved one who is many miles away is a priceless gift.
I received a RedEnvelope gift card to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. All opinions are my own.
I love roses and those look beautiful. Those cups are kinda cool too.
