Fit Mommy Friday: Fitness Challenge

Posted in Fitness

Denise from Got Chai says: There seems to be a common thread here among us Fit Mommies and it’s this: A serious lack of motivation! Factors such as: stress, an insane schedule, illness, injury, the new school year, or even the dreary fall weather can do a number on our workout routines, pushing them and our goals to the back burner. Trouble is, many times that’s exactly where they stay. Once the vicious cycle of “Exercise, eat right, get fit, feel great / Get bored, gain weight, feel bad” begins, it’s hard to stop. (Can I hear an “Amen”?) Well,…

TOS Schoolhouse Middle School Student Planner

Posted in Reviews

When I first saw that TOS was coming out with a student version of their Schoolhouse Planner, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be different enough for there to be a need to purchase a separate planner for the student.  I looked at samples and was intrigued by what I saw.  I liked that they had chosen to break the planner down by grades – primary (K-3), secondary (4-6), middle school (7-8), and high school (9-12).  Yet, I still wasn’t completely convinced that I needed a different planner for Munchkin.  I had created a workable planner from the…

Review: Knights of Arrethtrae Books 4-6

The Knights of Arrethtrae is a series written by Chuck Black.  Chuck Black is known for his Kingdom series.  In both series, readers travel back to a time of knights, chivalry, castles, and sword fights.  The lack of magic, wizards, and graphic violence is notable.  These allegories span from Genesis all the way to the second coming of Christ.  In the Knights of Arrethtrae series, readers enter into the lives of specific knights who are fighting for their Prince.  These stand alone books take place between books 3 and 5 of the Kingdom series. Lady Carliss and the Waters of…

After going gluten free, going to the fairs just didn’t seem quite the same because we could no longer order funnel cakes.  I decided it was time for us to enjoy these delicious treats once again.  I was pleasantly surprised when it worked!  Munchkin and her friends quickly gobbled up not one, but two of the funnel cakes. Gluten Free Funnel Cake Recipe Ingredients: 1 1/2 Cups Gluten Free Bisquick 1 tsp cinnamon 1 egg 1 Cup milk (can use almond milk if dairy/casein free) 1 tsp vanilla Directions: Heat up oil for frying to 375 degrees F In a…

Gluten Free Bisquick

Posted in Gluten Free, and Reviews

A few months ago I heard rumors of a gluten free Bisquick.  I kept looking in my local grocery stores, but I never saw it.  It was available online, but I tend to like to purchase locally when I’m trying something for the first time.  Yes, I’m weird like that.  Anyway, I was more than thrilled to be given the opportunity to try out the new gluten free Bisquick.  Many ideas filled my mind as I tried to decide what I wanted to create. Then, it hit me.  I want to try to create funnel cakes.  It has been years…
