Zion National Park is located near Springdale, Utah. Unlike Bryce Canyon National Park, you are unable to drive through the park from March to October. During these months, you must park you car and ride the shuttle. Most people park at the visitor center, but if you get to the park after 10:00 am on most days, you’ll probably need to park in Springdale and take a free shuttle to the visitor center.
At the visitor center, we picked up a Junior Ranger guide for Munchkin. Once again, we took along our Your Guide to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, so we could read about the park from a Creation viewpoint.
In the canyon behind the Human History Museum, dinosaur tracks have been found. Much to Munchkin’s dismay, we weren’t able to go back into the canyon to try to locate any of the tracks.
After we looked around the Human History Museum, we took a hike to the next shuttle stop instead of waiting for the shuttle to arrive at this location. Along the way, we decided to eat lunch by the river.
Munchkin had a great deal of fun taking pictures and throwing leaves into the current. She ended up spending more time exploring the river than she did eating her lunch. D and I enjoyed watching her as we ate.
Once we arrived at the shuttle stop, Munchkin worked on her Junior Ranger book while we waited for it to arrive. Then, we were off to the Court of the Patriarchs.
