When you first hear of toy animals costing from $3.00 to $35.00 each, you may think, “What???? Why would I pay that much for a toy animal figure?”  Then, you take a closer look at the Schleich animals, and you see the fine, hand-painted details.  You start to admire the realistic, well-made animals.  You realize that these aren’t cheap, plastic toys.  Instead, they are finely crafted, artistic pieces that will be well loved by children.  They will be played with over and over again and not fall apart.

Munchkin really likes Schleich animals, so she was beyond excited when she learned that we would have a chance to review a selection of different animals.  She waited and watched for the delivery man.  When he arrived, a squeal of delight parted from her grinning lips as she reached for the package marked Schleich.  She carefully removed each animal from the package and determined what it was.  Her mind was whirling with ideas as she studied the animals.

Munchkin studied the catalog determining what other animals she would like to add to her collection.  You see, Schleich animals are like potato chips.  You can’t have just one.  So, if there are any drawbacks, that would be the drawback.  Your kids will want more.

Soon, Munchkin headed off to create pens and corrals for the animals.  Hours and hours of creative play followed.  Schleich animals seem to naturally call for imaginative play.  Munchkin says that they’re so realistic that you can’t help, but want to play with them.

When it was time to take pictures of the animals for the review, Munchkin decided that we had to try to get shots that were outdoors in various habitats as it would help show off how realistic the animals looked.  She had fun finding just the right place for each of her new animals.  Can you tell that she really likes playing with the Schleich animals?

You may be wondering how can this tie into homeschooling?  Children can have fun researching the different animals.  You can pull out a map and have the child place the animal on the correct country of origin.  For younger children, you can simply have them match the momma/papa animal with the baby animal.  You could create a bingo game where the animals needed to be matched up with animal facts.  You can use them as models for sketches.  Really, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

I received a selection of Schleich animals as a member of the TOS Crew in return for an honest review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
