While D was deployed last time, Munchkin and I found ourselves reading many books together.  I would real out loud to her while she colored, worked on puzzles, rested…  We would read short books and long books.  Some books took several days of almost non-stop reading to finish.  Those were the types of books that we just didn’t want to put down because we wanted to know what happened next.
