Decorating with Less: Master Bedroom

Posted in Family, and Homemaking

One of the crazy things with being in the military is that you never know what type/size of house you will be in next.  What works at one house won’t necessarily work at the next house.  You end up with various decorations, pictures, curtains, and what not that worked in the old house but didn’t work in the new.  You’re always looking for inexpensive ways to make your house look like your home.

We’re still working on making our house look like home.  I had purchased some wall saying decals at the dollar store about a month ago.  One of them was a three piece set that said “Always” “Kiss Me” “Goodnight”.  I thought that would be great for over our bed in the master bedroom.  Unfortunately, I realized that they were too small for that purpose.  I put them up anyway as I still liked them.

Last night, I realized that I could add pictures to make it look more substantial and complete.  I took a picture of D and I holding hands and made sure our wedding rings were showing.  Then, Munchkin took pictures of Daddy and I kissing and then acting like we were sleeping.  Now, if you actually look at the pictures, you can see me trying not to laugh.  I could not keep a straight face.  I still liked the finished results.

I grabbed a couple of old frames that I had, printed out the pictures, put the pictures in the frames, and placed them above the bed.  Then, I placed the phrases below the pictures.  Here’s the end result:

When I look up and see the pictures and saying, it just makes me smile.  It’s totally us.
