Advent Reading: We continued our reading of Jotham’s Journey. The reading this week had lots of surprises and excitement. We look forward to our nightly readings and can’t wait to see what happens next. This week’s focus was on God being in control even when it doesn’t seem like it.
School: Munchkin continued with her Names of Jesus study. This week, she learned about:
- Wonderful Counselor
- Prince of Peace
- Bread of Life
- Lamb of God
- Savior
Home: We worked on several handmade Christmas and birthday gifts. Munchkin is working on a sewing project by herself that will be a gift. We had fun doing some more decorating around the house.
Activities: Munchkin continued on with her church play practice. She is very excited about this performance. Now, we know that the 3 wise men didn’t show up at Jesus’ birth, but they are always included in performances (even at church) for some reason. Since the wise men are included, the kids are singing “We Three Kings”.
WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE
written by Reverend John Henry Hopkins, Jr.
We three kings of orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star.
O, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading still proceeding
Guide us to the perfect light.
Born a babe on Bethlehem’s plain
Gold we bring to crown Him again.
King forever ceasing never
Over us all to reign.
O, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading still proceeding
Guide us to the perfect light.
(Instrumental verse)
O, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading still proceeding
Guide us to the perfect light.
I love learning the names of Jesus, as they all share a different character trait. 🙂
Blessings,
Jillian
