Homeschool Memoirs: Something New

THEME

Planning your homeschool is a lot of fun, especially if you’re going to be trying something new. Just like finding a shiny new penny you’re excited to use it. Mother Dear has been planning some new curriculum for us, and I am plenty excited to get started on it. This week I hope you’ll share something new you’re using, why you’ve decided to use it, and if you have used it how you like it. Make sure to include the publishing information and where you got it from so others can look into if they like.

We’ve pretty much continued with the same curriculum that we’ve been using all along this year. One thing that we have started recently is a word of the day. Based upon what Munchkin is struggling with that day, I pick a vocabulary word for her to look up. She writes the vocab word on an index card. (These have been placed on a ring for easy keeping.) When applicable, I’ll have her write a Bible verse to go along with the vocab word on the back of the index card.

We are using this same type of system to help Munchkin keep track of and review the Bible verses that she is memorizing. Since she just started Awana for the first time, she has a bunch of memory verses to learn before she can start the program. We’re using the index cards as well as the dry erase board and fill in the blank sheets that I’ve created to help her learn all of these verses. We’ll continue this throughout the year. With the index cards on a ring method, she’ll be able to review verses at any time.

The vocab card/day is a great idea. You are giving her great tools!

That is a super concept for helping your daughter to learn her vocab and Bible verses at the same time.
