Bowl Game Fun

Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl

When we learned that Michigan would be playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Sundevil Stadium while we were in AZ, we knew that we wanted to try to go to the game. Munchkin had never been to a live football game, so we thought it would be fun to go as a family. She wasn’t overly excited at first, but once we arrived at the game, everything changed.

We were fortunate to be able to get free tickets through Veteran Tickets Foundation who give out a massive number of free tickets to vets and their families throughout the year. We just had to get there and pay to park. We left a little early that day as we figured we’d make a stop at Cabelas and IKEA while we were in the Phoenix area. 😉

Pre-Game Field Shot

It was a late night game, so it was dark as we headed into the stadium. We went ahead and found our seats while the vast majority of the attendees continued on with their tailgate parties. Slowly, more and more people made their way into the stadium as game time approached.

Fireworks

At this point, Munchkin realized that being at a live game is vastly different from watching a game on tv. She had a blast and started getting caught up in the spirit of being at the game. They even had fireworks which is always a cool thing.

Michigan Marching Band

Now, Michigan didn’t exactly have a good showing at the game, but at least they won the battle of the bands. **grin** Munchkin very much enjoyed watching the band performances. Michigan’s band was much better than that of Kansas State.

Michigan Takes the Field

When the 4th quarter began, Munchkin decided that if Michigan scored a touchdown, she would do something crazy for Grandpa who would have loved to have been at the game with us. For some time, we didn’t think it was going to happen, but alas, they scored a touchdown. Her mind began to think about what she could do.

On the way out of the stadium, the opportunity presented itself. There was a guy from one of the tv stations recording people as they left the stadium. Next thing I knew, she headed over there and asked if she could say something to her grandpa. The guy handed her the microphone, asked her a couple of questions, and allowed her to give a big shout-out to grandpa. Unfortunately, grandpa didn’t get to see it, but it was the thought that counted on that one.

Yep, she definitely got caught up in the fun of the bowl game. It was a very late night for us as we had a drive to get back home, but it was worth it. Now, Munchkin is more interested in attending some live events. 🙂
