Let the Children Come…

Posted in Christian Life

“Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.’ And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.” ~Matthew 19:13-15 All too often, we discount children in today’s society.  We do not see their value nor do we take the time to truly listen to what they have to say.  Yet, we see many places in scripture where Jesus blesses children and…

A Glimpse of Our Year – 2009

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Thoughts

Musings of a Housewife is having a 2009 blog recap carnival.  It’s a fun way to look back at what was going on with your blog on the first day (or first post) of the month in 2009.  You just put down the first sentence of the post.  I chose to skip review and announcement posts if those were the first posts up for the month.  I also added a picture from the post.  If that post didn’t have a picture, then I took one from another post from the month. Gratituesday: Reflecting on 2009

We have seen God’s faithfulness as we relocated across country.  We’ve been given a good home, good neighbors, good friends, good…

Getting Ready for Awana

Posted in Christian Life

Last Wednesday, our church held registration and orientation for the new year of Awana. We registered Munchkin and then the leaders talked to the parents. The leaders are really pumped about this year. They are expecting great things for the kids. I was impressed with their concern with the safety of the kids, and their desire to see the kids grow in Christ. After the leaders were done talking to the parents, the parents were dismissed, and the kids had a meet and greet time. Munchkin has been happily working on her book this week. She’s learning her verses and…

Munchkin was pleased with how her car turned out. There were a lot of very cool cars that showed up on race day. Munchkin’s completed car. A few cars lined up to be judged. Munchkin’s car lined up on the track ready to race. She came in second or third in her races. She was pleased until she realized that she wouldn’t be moving on to the next round. At the end of the day, they awarded prizes to the racers for both achievements in racing and appearance. They all received an award for participation as well as Awana bucks.
