It’s no secret that our “puppy” is spoiled. It’s also no secret that he’s no longer a puppy. In fact, he’s actually 14-years-old. He has various older dog issues, so we do all we can to make his life enjoyable and a little easier. That means that on many days I’m carrying our sweetie up and down the stairs. It also means less sleep at night as he needs to go out more frequently. As you can see, adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment. Way back when we first adopted him from the humane society, we honestly didn’t know…

And Then There Were Two
Posted in Family, and Photography
We knew the time would come when we would need to seek new homes for our girls (guinea pigs). We wanted to wait until they were old enough to comfortably be away from their mom if that is what the new adoptive situation necessitated. Unfortunately, knowing the time will come doesn’t make it any easier when the day actually arrives. Today was the day that we said goodbye to our sweet girls. Munchkin tried to be brave, but eventually, she broke down in tears as she said her final goodbyes to each sweet guinea pig. It is strange not hearing…
The Little Herd

Project 365 – #252 The little squeaks are growing quickly. It’s hard to believe they’re almost a week old. It looks like we have 2 females and 1 male, but we’ll need to confirm that in about 2 weeks when it’s time to remove the males from the females. They’re so cute as they follow each other in a little herd. Choco, the papa, is allowed in with them for closely supervised visits as he is a bit lonely, and he loves being with his family. Rosita is doing a great job as a mama; she takes care of the…
Just Visiting

Project 365 – #249 When you have newborns in the house (whether human or otherwise), visitors are never far behind. Munchkin and her friend are very much enjoying spending time with the babies. They still like to hide a good bit of the time, but if you just spend some time in their cage, they will apparently come out to play. (The lighting on the picture above is off, but I still like it as it captures the moment.) Me? Well, I’d rather not get in the cage. lol! I just get to see them whenever they come out or…
Introducing Rosita the Guinea Pig

Project 365 – #160 Guinea pigs are highly social animals, so they do best when there are at least two of them together. When Munchkin adopted Choco, there was only one guinea pig, so we’ve been watching local boards waiting to see if any guinea pigs came up for adoption. Yesterday, a girl from 4-H posted on craigslist that she had guinea pigs that needed a new home. We emailed back and forth for some time. She offered to bring the piggies for Munchkin to examine. We came home with Rosita. That little tuft of white fur called out to…
