Baking, Cooking, and Visiting

Posted in Family

Our Monday was filled with activity. I seemed to spend a good bit of the day in the kitchen. After breakfast, I started a roast with potatoes and carrots in the crockpot. For lunch we enjoyed bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwiches on home baked multi-grain gluten free rolls. Yum! After lunch, I started making another batch of rolls. I seem to be finding myself making these rolls almost every day now that the outside temperatures are below 100 degrees. While the rolls were baking, I mixed up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Once the cookie dough had rested and the…

Exploring the Imperial Dunes

Posted in Family

We decided to take Grandma and Grandpa over to the Imperial Dunes.  Munchkin can never go to the dunes without exploring at least a little bit. Daddy and Munchkin almost immediately headed off to traverse the dunes.  Grandpa took a few pictures and investigated the area a bit.  Grandma and I watched and had a bit of a snack before heading over to look at the dunes. Munchkin took a moment or two to snap a picture with Grandma.  Then, she was off looking around again. No matter how old he gets, D is still his mom’s “little” boy.  It’s…

A Visit with Grandpa and Grandma

Posted in Family

On Friday afternoon, a van pulled up, and Grandpa and Grandma stepped out.  Munchkin was more than excited that Grandpa and Grandma were going to be staying with us for a bit.  They are traveling around seeing some of the family, and we were next up on their list of stops. We’ve been enjoying our time visiting.  Munchkin is having lots of fun playing board games and card games with Grandma.  Grandpa has been teaching her how to play of few games on his Ipad which Munchkin thinks is pretty cool. I need to get some pictures taken as I…

Playing in the Rain

Posted in Family

On Monday, after the neighborhood kids arrived home from school, we were blessed with an ever so brief rain shower.  Now, when you live in a place where there is very little rain, a rain shower, no matter how brief, is cause for great celebration.  There is running, screaming, shouting, laughing, dancing, playing in the rain.  Forget umbrellas or rain boots, they just head out and play. They splash in the puddles and create damns in the “streams”.  They just thoroughly enjoy the beautiful rain. All too soon, the rain stopped, but the splashing continued for a little while longer. …

Zion: Temple of Sinawava

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

The Temple of Sinawava is the last shuttle stop in Zion.  It is here that you can take a mile long hike to the beginning of the Narrows, a tall slot canyon.  While we did make the hike back to the beginning of The Narrows, we had to stop instead of trekking forward as we desired.  Soon, you will see why we needed to stop. The trail to The Narrows is set up so you could take a wheelchair down it.  It wouldn’t be easy, in my opinion, but it would be possible.  The Virgin River passes by you on…
