Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

To escape the desert heat, we decided it would be fun to head over to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It’s almost 30 degrees cooler at the top than it is at the bottom. A quick family picture before we get in the tram and head to the top.           The ride up was filled with beautiful views. One of the new (to us) features for the tram is that it rotates in a circle, so you can see views from all sides of the tram. Once we arrived at the top, we took in the…

The Living Desert

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

On the second day of our vacation, we headed over to The Living Desert. They had a variety of new babies including a baby giraffe and a baby zebra. We all enjoyed seeing the cute babies with their mamas. The baby zebra decided to nurse while we were there. This big horn sheep was sitting up on the hill watching over his girls. When we came back around a little later in the day, he had moved out of the sun and joined the girls in the shade. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a lot of shade at…

Visiting Joshua Tree National Park: Keys View

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Our adventures with the family began on Monday when we headed over to Joshua Tree National Park. We decided that we’d check out Keys View during this particular trip. Of course, we made a few stops along the way to do a little exploration. The girls had fun climbing on both the rocks and trees which lead to plenty of photo opportunities. D had a blast leading the way. We had to periodically remind him that he had some littles that weren’t used to climbing and who didn’t have the right footware this time around. lol! It was quite warm…

Hiking Cougar Crest Trail – Big Bear, CA

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

On Saturday, we decided that it was time to test out our new Gregory backpacks. Seeing how we want to eventually do multiple day hikes, we know that it’s important to work out way up to being able to do that. Hiking with just a day pack (our normal thing) is completely different from backpacking with a bigger pack, so it’s important to condition your body before taking on a longer trip. We headed up to Big Bear and hit the Cougar Crest Trail. From the parking lot, the trail is roughly 5.8 miles round trip. (You hike up and…

Hiking at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Daddy got Munchkin a new pack and some hiking boots for her birthday, so we thought it would be a good idea to try them out by heading over to Big Morongo Canyon Preserve after church on Sunday. According to Munchkin, the boots are much better than her old ones even with them not being completely broken in yet. Unfortunately, the pack ended up not working out, but it’s better to find that out on a shorter hike than a long hike. We’re back to looking for a pack that will work for our girl. We enjoyed hiking in an…
