Baseball and Birthday Party

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We woke to a warm, windy day.  The trees were swaying to and fro.  Dust devils swirled around.  The sun’s heat baked the red dirt on the baseball field.  The soft billowy breeze gave some reprieve from the heat of the sun beating down on the players and fans.  Shade was scarce.  Water was dearly needed.  The teams battled back and forth to the very end.  Hands were shaken.  Congrats were given.  More than one person walked away a little pink or red and feeling rather parched. The cool ac welcomed us home.  The icy water refreshed our parched lips. …

Munchkin’s 11th Birthday Party

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Homemaking

Munchkin hasn’t had a big birthday party for herself since she was in kindergarten, so we decided this was a good year to have a big party.  Munchkin has been blessed with great friends at this location, so we wanted to take advantage of that before people start moving away. Let me introduce you to Sahara, Munchkin’s birthday camel.  Instead of a traditional card from Mommy and Daddy, we gave this to Munchkin.  She received her birthday camel as well as her other presents from family prior to us heading to church on Sunday morning. After lunch, we headed over to the park for park day with our homeschool group.  Munchkin gave one of her friends an invite to her party.  (I had already talked to her mom, but she hadn’t received an actual invite yet.)  It was nice…

Gluten Free Birthday Party?

Posted in Gluten Free, and Homemaking

If you’re kids are gluten free, you have no doubt encountered the issue of them attending a birthday party and not being able to eat the cake.  For most kids, one of the things that is really fun about birthday parties is eating the cake.  What do you do to make sure your gluten free kids don’t feel left out of the celebration?  For Munchkin, I try to always make her a gluten free cupcake to eat while the other kids are eating their cake. Last Wednesday, we were invited at the last minute to a little birthday get together. …
