Military Working Dogs Field Trip

Posted in Homeschooling, and Military Life

Today, our base homeschool group was treated to a fabulous K-9 demonstration. The field trip began with the sound of sirens. A police vehicle was chasing down a pick-up that wouldn’t stop. The man got out of the truck and wouldn’t listen to the officer… We learned a bit more about the working dogs and their jobs including a brief history about military working dogs and their service to our country.  Did you know that these dogs are awarded medals just like their human military counterparts?  They can receive the purple heart if they are wounded in combat. Field Trip: Saihati Camel Farm

Posted in Homeschooling

We enjoy getting to know a new area by going exploring. When we read that we would be able to go to a working camel farm, Munchkin was pretty excited. The only problem was that we had to wait until October as they are closed to the public during the summer months. This weekend, the wait was finally over as the camel farm was open. Apiary Field Trip

Posted in Homeschooling

Today, we headed out on a field trip with our homeschooling group to a local apiary. We had a lot of fun as the kids (and adults) learned more about bees, honey, and beeswax. Learning about how they build the boxes for the bees. Showing the parts of the hives. Talking about the hive and displaying empty hive. Munchkin getting a close-up look at the empty hive. Talking about the gear…

Field Trip: Aquarium

I can’t hold out any longer. I don’t want to miss out on memories due to a bad camera. Anyway, here are some pictures from our day. Munchkin petting and then feeding the horseshoe crab: We became small and travelled through the wetlands as little beings. Then we ran into this! The newest temporary exhibit was the penguins: One of the cutest creatures…
