This week at VBS D and I have been quite challenged with some of the kids in our group.  We spend so much time focusing on keeping them in line that we’re concerned with whether or not they are learning anything.  We walk away completely spent each evening.  Yet, there are moments here and there where we can see a little glimmer of hope coming from these particular kids.  It is in these moments that we can really see that we are the salt and light here.  We have to keep going even when we feel that we’ve reached our…

Finding Balance

This week, Munchkin will be wrapping up her current school year.  Homeschooling year around can make it difficult at times to really judge when one year ends and the next year begins.  This time, we’re using her main subjects as our guide.  If she completes all her work as planned this week, she’ll happily enjoy a week off from school next week. I’m using this current time to evaluate how I did as a teacher and mom over this past year.  I’m making a few adjustments in how I handle things, and I’m putting my expectations of Munchkin in writing.…

The Summer of Kung Zhu has Begun!

We were given the opportunity to host a Kung Zhu Party.  As soon as the party box arrived, I set out to schedule our impromptu party.  Because lots of people have moved and were moving soon, I wanted to get things going as quickly as possible. Kung Zhu pets are basically Zhu-Zhu pets that have been geared towards the boy set.  Knowing my daughter and her friends, I knew that these Zhu-Zhu pet warriors (special forces and ninjas) would not be just for boys.  The good thing is that boys who secretly liked Zhu-Zhu pets now have a boy version…
