Our Lifestyle of Learning

Posted in Homeschooling

We live in the United States of America ~ Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.  We are a nation born from hard work and sacrifice, a nation founded on Biblical principles, and a nation valuing freedom.  While we have seen some of these things slowly slip away over the years as our nation has moved away from many of the ideals of the first settlers and our Founding Fathers, we still enjoy a great number of freedoms that citizens/residents of other countries do not enjoy. There was a time, not so long ago, when homeschooling was the…

Passport to India

Posted in Holidays, and Homeschooling

A month or so ago, I learned about a free program being offered by Sonlight curriculum called Passport to India.  When you sign up for the program, you can receive a package in the mail that contains information about the program, a passport for each participating student/child, and a suitcase. The suitcase is actually a bank, so you can collect money for the Children’s Bible Club in India.  (You can still sign up for the program.) Starting on October 5th, a new video and lesson has been posted each Tuesday and Thursday.  We watch the video and do the lesson. …

(We’re going to be doing a Indian dinner and will be dressing up for that, so I picked up an outfit for myself while we were out.)  I found a head scarf for myself, but we couldn’t find one for Munchkin.  I decided to rip apart a skirt to…

Fit Mommy Friday: Challenge Week 1

Posted in Fitness

I had a pretty good week when it came to my challenge goals.  I was surprised by the fact that eating enough veggies was the one thing that I really had to try to get done this week.  I love veggies – all kinds, so it was puzzling that I struggled with getting enough veggies each day.  Then again, it could have something to do with the fact that we’ve been enjoying more fruit (kiwi, strawberries, seedless oranges) this week. Overall, I’ve cut down on sweets, but I did have cheesecake twice this week.  I made a healthier version of…
