Munchkin’s Birthday Cake

Posted in Family, Homemaking, and Photography

Project 365 – #109 As I had stated before, Munchkin requested a carrot cake for her birthday.  I was unable to get my hands on my normal gluten free carrot cake mix (Simply Organic), so I tried a recipe that I found while at the gluten free expo.  The cake tasted good, but was a bit more dense and dry than I prefer.  I think I’ll keep trying for a better gluten free carrot cake from scratch. Munchkin’s current favorite color is blue, so I went with blue candles.  She was excited to the look of the cake as she…

Growing Up so Fast

Project 365 – #108 With each birthday, my baby girl gets closer and closer to becoming a teenager.  One more year and she’ll be at that magical age.  For now, we’ll just enjoy spending each day with our precious little girl who is nearly as tall as me. lol!  (Goofy girl didn’t want to smile for the picture. Right after I took the picture, she started laughing…) On Saturday, we headed over to Phoenix for the Gluten Free Expo, so we decided to take advantage of being near some gluten-free restaurants and celebrated Munchkin’s birthday with some yummy gluten-free pizza…

Project 365 – #107 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. Project 365 – #106 Today, we stopped by Painted Rock Petroglyph Site which is located near Gila Bend, Az.  (We were on our way home from the Phoenix Gluten Free Expo – more about that later.)  A petroglyph is basically a symbolic or artistic rock etching.  Usually, you’ll only see a few here and there – if you’re fortunate to be able to find/see them.  At this location, there are literally hundreds of etchings. Why are there so many in one location?  Well, this area was a well traveled path for many people including expedition of Juan Bautista de Anza…

Project 365 – #105 Munchkin has a serious dislike for bees, wasps, hornets….  You get the idea.  Lately, she’s torn between staying away from them and capturing the beautiful flowers.  Usually, her dislike wins, and she asks me to get pictures of the flowers surrounded by bees.  When we were out hiking, we came across this beautiful bush filled with flowers – and bees.  As I was snapping the picture, this wasp decided to get into the picture.  The bees, on the other hand, didn’t want to make their presence known in the pictures other than their back ends. lol!
