A Forever Home for Christmas

Posted in Family, and Photography

While I wasn’t ready to introduce a new furry buddy to our home yet, both Daddy and Munchkin really wanted to have a new puppy in time for Christmas. They couldn’t handle not having a dog to love on; they needed a dog to fill the huge void left by the passing of our other pup. This past weekend we decided to go away for the weekend.  We quickly packed up some clothes and overnight necessities and hopped into the truck.  We just needed to get out of the house.  We ended up coming home with this cute boy. Playing in the Rain

Posted in Family, Outdoor Adventures, and Photography

Today, we received a very nice rain storm which means Munchkin needed to head outside to play. It also meant that she needed to head over next door to see if her friend could play.  That play lead to lots of laughter, fun, and some rather wet, cold kiddos. While it may not be as cold as it is in other parts of the country, it is rather chilly – especially when you’re soaked due to the rain and splashing in puddles. Of course, when you see rain so rarely and you’re a kid, a chill in the air does…

Gluten Free Latkes Recipe

Posted in Gluten Free, Homemaking, and Photography

We thought it would be fun to try latkes which are a traditional Hanukkah food. Seeing how I like to tweak recipes slightly and I had sweet potatoes on hand, I decided to do a mixture of regular fingerling potatoes and sweet potatoes. O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory…

Thankful Thursday: Surgery Recovery Update

Posted in Family, and Photography

D met with the military “board” yesterday.  We are now cautiously optimistic about D’s future in the military.  We were given some hope that due to his rank and job that he’ll be able to continue being a Marine, and he could make it to retirement.  They were pleased to see how well he was doing already.  He has rough days especially when he does too much, but recovery is going well.  We still have a long road ahead, and things could change in an instant. We gave this whole situation to the Lord and trusted that He would provide…
