An Afternoon Drive – Desert Style

Project 365 – #240 When we head out into the desert, we always make sure we have plenty of water and some food.  In the hot summer months, we always make sure the air conditioning is working before we head out as the temps can be in the 110+ range.  It’s hard to imagine what the Israelites must have gone through while living in the desert for 40 years.  (Yes, it was a different desert landscape, but it makes me understand more of the hardships that they may have encountered living in a dry land.) Desert Graffiti

Project 365 – #239 Today, we headed out to do a little exploring in the Picacho Peak area.  During our drive, we came across a large area covered by some unique desert graffiti.  (This picture is an extremely small sampling of the graffiti area.)  The great thing about this graffiti is that it doesn’t damage the area.  In fact, this display actually uses the natural surroundings to create the graffiti.  We had heard about this area (and D had seen it from the air), but we’d never been to the desert graffiti location.  It was fun seeing all the creative…

Making Creation Our Classroom

Project 365 – #231 As you can probably tell, we love to make the Lord’s Creation our classroom.  There is something wonderful about learning outdoors surrounded by the beauty and wonder of nature.  Often, we’ll research the area where we will be exploring prior to heading out – especially when we’re going somewhere like the Grand Canyon.  We try to have books and other research material available for reading.  Munchkin likes to carry a nature/wildlife guide with her, so she can look things up during our hikes. Evening Rodeo

Project 365 – #225 As you can see, we really were quite busy (in a fun way) on our vacation with our family.  While we were in Cave Creek, we heard that they had bull riding twice a week in the evenings, so one night, we decided to head on over and check it out.  I ended up with tons of pictures as I tried out different features on my camera, but I’ll spare you the gazillion pictures.  **grin**   It didn’t cost anything to get in to watch the cowboys ride.  They did offer various drinks as well as a…
