Christmas can be dangerous for me because I really enjoy baking, and I also enjoy eating those baked goods. Yesterday, Munchkin needed some cookies to take with her to her Awana Christmas party. Since I was busy working on several other projects, I cheated and used a Betty Crocker Gluten Free chocolate chip cookie mix that I had on hand. I tossed in some M&Ms to make it more festive and sprinkled some colored sugar on top. I turned these into quite large cookies by using ice cream scoop sized balls of dough. While I usually cook from scratch, it’s…

Handmade Christmas: PomPom Critters
Posted in Holidays, and Homemaking
Munchkin created these cute Christmas Pom Pom Critters to give to her friends. Last year, we purchased a craft kit on clearance after Christmas. When she discovered how much she liked making them, she asked if she could get the materials to make more. Thankfully, JoAnn Fabrics carries all of the items needed to create these cute critters (pom poms – small & medium, felt, foam, wiggly eyes, tinsel stems). To make this craft easier for Munchkin to do on her own, I gave her glue dots to use instead of using hot glue. Check out more crafts at the…
Wordless Wednesday: All Dressed Up
Posted in Holidays, and Photography
Since the Christmas play is next Sunday and Munchkin will be wearing an angel costume, she decided to wear her Christmas dress this past Sunday. This dress came with a matching dress for her American Girl doll. Unfortunately, I forgot to have her get the doll dressed prior to the picture.

One of our Christmas traditions is that each year we get new pjs. This was something that my mom always did for my sister and I growing up, so I decided to keep the tradition when D and I got married. In the past, we purchased pjs (at least for D and I). This year, I saw some family pjs at different stores online. I thought that was a really cool idea, but I could justify the expense. I decided that I would make us matching pj pants. I picked up the patterns (Butterick B5153) after Thanksgiving for 99 cents…

Munchkin decided that she wanted to have some lights on the house this year. I use to put up lots of lights, but we haven’t that for the last couple of years. So, I pulled out the old lights, and we started decorating. I checked the lights prior to hanging them, but shortly after they were plugged in, some of the lights went out. We haven’t had a chance to find the bad bulbs yet… Here are some more pictures from the inside of the house. First, this is our entryway. Under the mirror is another one of those dollar…
