The Birth of Desert Big Horn Sheep

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

We’ve been fortunate to see several desert big horn sheep in the wild while we’ve lived here. Usually, we see only one or two, but a couple of times we’ve had the opportunity to see whole herds of them heading up into the rocking cliffs. Desert Big Horn Sheep are pretty interesting animals as they can survive on very little water which is important given the low level of rain fall that we receive each year. They get the vast majority of their moisture (hydration) from the vegetation that they eat. During the winter months, when it is cooler, they…

Learning TaeKwonDo

Posted in Family, Fitness, and Homeschooling

After a great deal of encouragement from Daddy, Munchkin started up with TaeKwonDo a couple of weeks ago. Daddy felt it was important that she learn the discipline that comes from studying the martial arts as well as learn some self-defense techniques. Munchkin wasn’t completely sure of this, and the idea of this brand new activity was a little daunting. Thankfully, much to Munchkin’s surprise, there are several other girls roughly her age taking the class with her. Her class is three days a week which is taking some getting use to as both Munchkin and I like to be…

Lilla Rose Pony Style

Posted in Family

Munchkin and I recently decided to team up and become Lilla Rose consultants. We received a flexi clip from a friend and ended up liking it so much that we decided to become consultants. The idea is mainly for Munchkin to earn some money to put towards her truck restoration and a little extra spending cash. At this point in time, we’re not sure how in-depth we’re going to go – only time will tell. We like the products, so we want to share them with others. Not familiar with Lilla Rose? Well, it’s a company that features high quality…

Thankful for Air Conditioning

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We woke up to a very hot Monday morning, not unlike most mornings here in the desert of Arizona. Only, today it wasn’t just hot outside – the inside of the house felt warm too. I headed over to the thermostat to see the temperature inside rising. Something was wrong with the air conditioning. I started up with the normal checks… air filter, breaker… Everything was fine. I moved outside. The unit was dead. The compressor wasn’t running. The fan wasn’t moving. Ugh! I call over to base housing maintenance, and they put in an emergency maintenance request. We should…

USS Midway

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Military Life

While we were over in San Diego spending time with Grandma and Grandpa, we decided that we would visit the USS Midway. To make the trip even more fun, we hopped on the ferry in Coronado and road it over to San Diego. We explored the ship, learned a bit more about aircraft carriers, and enjoyed listening to the World War II veteran. We all agreed that we wouldn’t really care to live aboard the ship – too close quarters for us. 😉 Poor Daddy had to duck pretty much the whole time we were on board except when we…
