Starting Riding Training

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Daddy decided that it was finally time to start riding the horses again. When we brought them home from the rescue, we made the decision to do training before riding them as they were disrespectful. Munchkin had some bad experiences with a few horses at the ranch, so she was hesitant to get back on her horse, Dixie, until she knew that she was respecting her. While training has taken longer due to our slow training schedule, they have made huge strides and are pretty good on the ground. We still have more work to do, but Daddy felt they…

International Bow Hunter Education Class

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Munchkin’s weapon of choice is her bow. She very much enjoys archery and wants to be able to do some hunting with her bow in the future. This past week, Munchkin worked on getting the online portion of her bow hunting class completed so she would have her certificate in time for Sunday’s field day class. Hiking Cougar Crest Trail – Big Bear, CA

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

On Saturday, we decided that it was time to test out our new Gregory backpacks. Hiking with just a day pack (our normal thing) is completely different from backpacking with a bigger pack, so it’s important to condition your body before taking on a longer trip. We headed up to Big Bear and hit the Cougar Crest Trail. From the parking lot, the trail is roughly 5.8 miles round trip. (You hike up and…
