Thankful Thursday: Difficulty

Posted in Family

This week I’m focusing on being thankful when things are not going smoothly. It’s easy to be thankful when things are going great, but it’s much more difficult to be joyful when life has given you lemons. Wednesday, I called to find out the closing costs on the new house (we close on Friday). We had been given a good faith estimate, so we made sure we had set aside that amount plus a little bit more just in case. Unfortunately, nothing could have prepared me for the “sticker shock” that hit when they gave me the figure. It was…

Read to Me

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

Since Christmas, our reading as a family and individual reading time really has dropped. We were having so much fun reading a book together each evening. When I ran across this challenge at Jennifer’s blog Snapshot, I thought it was a perfect motivation tool for myself. If you think that you would like to join in, head on over to here blog to learn more. Our goal is to read together each evening. I want to get back to reading the Narnia series. We were reading it faithfully each day, but we stopped around Christmas time. Now, it’s February and…

Long Weekend

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

D was home yesterday as they have a long weekend due to President’s Day. I always love it when he’s home more as does munchkin. It’s more fun when Daddy is home. I can’t take down the bed by myself, so it fell on D to take care of it this weekend. Slowly, we’re removing things from the walls, and I’m filling in the holes left…

Our Valentine’s Gift

Posted in Family, and Holidays

We decided that we wanted to get each other a gift this year. Both of us have some issues with our backs, so D thought we should get a shiatsu and rolling massage cushion for our chair. I thought it sounded like a really good idea. Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive in time for Valentine’s Day, but it did arrive today. D is sitting and relaxing right now. He was a gentleman and let me enjoy my massage first. Here is a picture of our gift to each other.

Thankful Thursday: Love

Posted in Family

It’s that time of year when everyone starts thinking about love and showing you love for those around you. Some people see Valentine’s Day as a made-up holiday just for the card companies to make money. Other’s see Valentine’s Day as an extension of what they do all year long. Still other’s are somewhere in between. I enjoy Valentine’s Day and have fun celebrating it with my family. So, this week’s Thankful Thursday will be focused on love. 1. I am thankful for my Heavenly Father up above who sent down his Son to die with love that I may…
