Thankful Thursday: Love

Posted in Family

It’s that time of year when everyone starts thinking about love and showing you love for those around you. Some people see Valentine’s Day as a made-up holiday just for the card companies to make money. Other’s see Valentine’s Day as an extension of what they do all year long. Still other’s are somewhere in between.

I enjoy Valentine’s Day and have fun celebrating it with my family. So, this week’s Thankful Thursday will be focused on love.

1. I am thankful for my Heavenly Father up above who sent down his Son to die with love that I may someday join Him in the Heavens above.

2. I am thankful for my family who holds me dear and shows me their love throughout the year.

3. I am thankful for my dearest husband who has been the love of my life since we were quite young.

4. I am thankful for my daughter’s innocent love which comes to me unconditionally.

5. I am thankful for our precious dog’s loyal and never-ending love.

6. I am thankful each and every day for the love that is shared through churches, homes, and communities.

Sometimes, love is not easily found; we have to search for it. Sometimes, we have to decide to love someone. All too often we think of love only as the warm, cozy feeling that wells up inside of us. But true love is a decision and is unconditional. Let us remember to be thankful for all the love blessings that we take for granted each day.

Amen to that, Heather. I too believe that love is not just a fuzzy feeling, but a choice of commitment. I believe that true love is unconditional as you said – Jesus showed us what it means…
Blessings on your Thursday and always…

“True love is a decision and is unconditional.” I am only just realizing that. There have been many great posts from some women who are further along in their marriages and they are really helping to mentor me whether they know it or not. Thanks for summing up what I need to do so well.

    Blessings-

You are so right…love is a decision. That’s a hard one when God instructs us to love our enemies. Thanks for sharing this beautiful list.

    Blessings to you.

Marcia, you’re not the first person to ask that question. Last month, I addressed the often asked question. I just added it to my sidebar, so you can check it out if you wish. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Great reminder. Love is not mushy feelings but commitment. We need to remember that in everyday life!
