Gratituesday: Hard Working Husband

Posted in Family

D is a hard worker.  He doesn’t like to sit idley around and do nothing.  If he’s off work for too long, he starts to get antsy.  in fact, if he knows that he’s going to have a long weekend, he starts asking me what I want done.  Yep, that’s right, he asks for a honey do list!  **grin** D is also good at fixing things.  He likes to try to figure out how to do different tasks.  He enjoys the challenge of determining what is wrong and then repairing it. These things are coming in very handy this week. …

Daughter of the King: Baptism

Posted in Christian Life, and Family

Today, Munchkin was baptized.  Gramma and Grampa were able to be there to share this special day.  My heart burst with joy to see my sweet little girl decide to make this public display of her inner decision. I was in the back helping Munchkin with the whole process, so my Dad snapped a few pictures for me while D did his best to tape the actual baptism.  The pictures, unfortunately, didn’t really turn out, but I still wanted to share a picture of this moment. After lunch, I chose to surprise Munchkin with this cake that I quickly decorated…

Celebrating a Birthday: Off-road Style

Posted in Family, and Holidays

Today, we’re celebrating D’s birthday.  We’re starting off the day with monkey bread, and then we’re off to do a bit of off-road exploration in D’s truck.  We’ll be doing some hiking and some driving.  Munchkin is excited because she gets to show off some of her favorite places to Gramma and Grampa.  D is excited ’cause he gets to go wheeling on his birthday! A picnic lunch will be enjoyed somewhere along the way.  The cupcakes have been packed as we’ll be enjoying his birthday treats while out on the trails. Happy Birthday, Devildog!

Gratituesday: Family

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We have been blessed during D’s military career to always be able to drive to see family.  Granted, it has been a long drive at times, but it was always less than a day’s drive away.  When we moved across country this year, we knew that our treks home to see family would come to a halt for a while (we don’t fly due to our “puppy”).  That is never an easy realization. While this is not always easy, it has given us the opportunity to come together.  We (D, Munchkin, and I) have learned to depend on each other…

A Glimpse of Our Year – 2009

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Thoughts

Musings of a Housewife is having a 2009 blog recap carnival.  It’s a fun way to look back at what was going on with your blog on the first day (or first post) of the month in 2009.  You just put down the first sentence of the post.  I chose to skip review and announcement posts if those were the first posts up for the month.  I also added a picture from the post.  If that post didn’t have a picture, then I took one from another post from the month. January Did we stay up to ring in the…
