Review: Sabbath The Ancient Practices

Sabbath: The Ancient Practices By Dan Allender, Phyllis Tickle As a family, we’ve been studying more about Biblical holidays including the Sabbath. Since we wanted to learn more about Sabbath, I thought this book might help us delve deeper into the topic. One of the things that I liked about the book is the emphasis on delighting in the Sabbath and not seeing it as a burden. My main problem with the book is that is wasn’t grounded in scripture; it was mainly based upon the author’s opinion. While I agreed with some of what was written, I would have…

Worry about Nothing

Project 365 – #009 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; Philippians 4:6 This plaque hangs next to my front door.  It’s in a very visible location as a constant reminder that I need to make sure that I am praying and not worrying.  The Lord is in control.  In that, I can take comfort. Coke Fountain

Project 365 – #008 Knowing that D collects Coke memorabilia, my sister sent this great Coke fountain to D for his birthday.  The water bubbles out over the ice cubes while a small light illuminates the ice cubes and makes them glow.  It’s a fun addition to our Coke collection.  One day, we hope to be able to have an area in our house (after D retires and we’re permanently located somewhere) where we can display and use the large collection that we’ve put together over the years.  It would be fun to have an old diner motif.  We’ll just…

Project 365 – #007 Little did we know that when we moved to the Arizona desert that we would be in the middle of citrus country.  It seems odd to see so much agriculture in such a hot, dry place.  Yet, they’ve made it work.  The winters are mild, so I suppose that does suit citrus well.  This time of year, the citrus trees are filled to the brim with fruit.  The fresh from the tree citrus is absolutely delicious. Tackling My Goals 3 at a Time

Posted in Christian Life, Fitness, and Homemaking

What is 3 in 30?  In the simplest terms, it’s a group support system to accomplish 3 goals in 30 days.  Instead of having an overwhelming long list of goals sitting in front of me, I will set 3 goals to accomplish each month.  I’ll be breaking down that long list into manageable chunks of 3.  Plus, I’ll have the support system in place to encourage me as I strive to meet my goals each month. Each week of the month, there is a check-in on Friday. Each Friday is slightly different. The goal is to visit the others who…
