Introducing Rosita the Guinea Pig

Posted in Family, and Photography

Project 365 – #160 Guinea pigs are highly social animals, so they do best when there are at least two of them together.  When Munchkin adopted Choco, there was only one guinea pig, so we’ve been watching local boards waiting to see if any guinea pigs came up for adoption.  Yesterday, a girl from 4-H posted on craigslist that she had guinea pigs that needed a new home. Lately, we’ve been hearing a good bit about the battle of the worldviews.  There is a struggle between those who believe in the religion of creation and the religion of evolution.  (Yes, evolution is a religion, a belief, as it can’t be proven with observational science.)  Many science texts state that evolution is a fact when it is not.  The truth is that this battle of the worldviews is a very controversial and touchy subject for many people.  Because it’s such a hot topic, I feel it’s important for Christian kids to understand both evolution and creation, so they can…

Strawberries, Strawberries, and More Strawberries

Posted in Homemaking, and Photography

Project 365 – #158 Today was all about strawberries.  I ordered a lot of strawberries with my Bountiful Baskets order this week.  Our whole house smells like strawberries.  Yum!  Here’s a glimpse into our strawberry day…. It was a very long, but delicious day in the kitchen.  It’s nice to have lots of strawberry jam and frozen strawberries put away in the freezer. The popcycle is simply pureed strawberries that I put in the popcycle molds.  It was a very healthy, refreshing treat on a hot afternoon.

It seems like the idea of preserving food had gone away for some time.  People just weren’t all that interested in taking the time to prepare the food themselves – after all, they could just grab what…
