March MadnessProject 365 – #060

It’s hard to believe that it’s already the first of March.  We’re 60 days into the new year.  Two months have come and gone.  February was a bit of a crazy month for us; it will be interesting to see what this new month holds for us.

I’m 60 days into the Mommytography 365 Project for 2011.  What I’ve learned so far is there is some incredible talent out there in the blogosphere.  A photographer I am not – at least, not yet – maybe someday.  I very much enjoy taking pictures and capturing moments in our lives.  It’s fun to try to see something from a different perspective – to view objects, people, moments through the lens.  I’ve found myself looking into new cameras as I read posts from the various bloggers and photographers.  I try different things as others share their knowledge and insights.  I want to expand my abilities when it comes to taking photos and capturing memories.

I enjoy a challenge, so the challenge of taking and posting a picture each day suits me well.  Of course, I prefer to not just post a picture.  I like to have a story to go with it.  Creativity must often come into play.

Basketballs

D is a basketball player even if he’s not currently playing.  He thoroughly enjoys the sport.  He loved coaching Munchkin for two years, so it was hard for him when she chose not to play this year.  I was really proud of how he handled it.  He did not push her to do it even though he would have really liked to see her continue to play.  It’s not always easy as parents to let go of our goals and let our children have their own goals.  They don’t always follow in our footsteps.

Both D and I were athletic all through school.  We played different sports and enjoyed it.  Munchkin has played different sports as well.  She has the athletic ability, but she doesn’t always share our passion.  This year, for the first time in several years, she’s not playing any team sports.  It’s a bit odd for us not to be heading to practices or games.

What we’ve seen though is that although her interest in playing sports herself has waned (at least for now), her interest in watching sports with us has grown.  She doesn’t mind sitting down and watching football or basketball with us.  That’s a good thing as we head into the month of March.  March Madness is getting ready to begin.  Basketball will most likely become a frequent sight on our tv screen.

We won’t be making up our own brackets or anything, but we will be enjoying the games.  It’s always fun to seeing the unexpected teams prevail over top-seeded teams.  That’s one of the great things about the tournament – you never know who will be the ultimate victor.  (Now, if only college football could get something like that in place… but that’s a whole different story.)

  1. My hubby is a basketball player too, but no more playing! Drs. orders. He has hurt his knee (surgery coming) and is having some more issues. So, his basketball life is over. Sad.

    Love the first shot!
