Many people have said that they don’t know how I do it. They say that they could never do what I do. I tend to think they’re wrong as God gives you the strength to do what you need to do. It’s not easy, and I miss my beloved very much. I just do what I need to do with the Lord’s help.
Each day, Munchkin and I wake up, and we cuddle. In the evening, before bed, we cuddle. Munchkin has her Daddy doll that comes downstairs with her each morning and goes to bed with her at night. We pray for D each morning as we start the day, and we pray for him again before we go to bed. This has been our routine pretty much since we moved here.
He hasn’t spent very much time at this house. We moved in at the end of May; he left for training in July. He’s been deployed for nearly 3 months now. Yet, we still have at least 9 months to go. Yuck!
If we focus on that, it would bring us down. Instead, we keep Daddy in our conversations and talk about how Daddy would like what we’re doing. We have fun making plans about what we’ll do when he gets home. (He’ll be coming home on leave for a few days sometime during the deployment.) We have fun making him things and sending him packages. We are enjoying turning the house into more of a home.
Homeschooling has been a blessing as we can take things at our own pace. If she has a rough day, we have an easier day with school. If all is well, we accomplish more. We are able to do fun field trips and activities with other families without worrying about school schedules.
We have decided that no matter how we are feeling we will always accomplish at least one task that day. We want our home to be a safe haven where we always feel comfortable and relaxed. It’s hard to do that if it’s in chaos, so we try to keep things orderly. We’re still working on creating a place for everything. Slowly, but surely, things are coming together.
D and I always joke that we get everything “just so” right before we move. I’m trying to avoid that this time. Thankfully, we did a lot of work on the house before D found out about the deployment. God really has been watching out for us.
2 Corinthians 4:8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit.
Praise God for walking beside each one of you every day
blessings and prayers to each of you too

God does give us what we need, but it does not mean it is always easy.
I really appreciated this post! Very honest and heartfelt without complaining.
I think of you often and pray for you and Munchkin. And often wish that you weren’t across the country. 🙂
You are a great example of faith and trusting in God for all of us! Thank you!
I know it is tough as is any seperation. You seem to have your routine established. I’m sure talking to him on-line or phone helps. My Dad was talking to me when my son was deployed about the difference now and when he was deployed during World War II. Communication was sparse and letters were censored. Sometimes when they arrived, many words were crossed out. He and my Mom weren’t married during that time but were wed shortly after he returned to the states.
You’re right about God being there to see you through this time. I can’t imagine how those without faith face what life throws at them.
Blessings,
Mama Bear
