Uncover Exciting History
by Amy Puetz
All too often the study of history is seen as boring by students. In fact, I was one of those students when I was in school. Although I was a good student, I found history very dry. Homeschooling Munchkin has allowed me to see a different side of history – the side of history that is exciting. By moving away from dry textbooks and using other living books, fun resources, and field trips, history can come alive.
Amy Puetz has found a way to teach history in a story style that will capture the attention of students and leave them wanting to learn more about the topic. Through easy to read stories, students will gain an overview knowledge of American history.
Uncover Exciting History contains 25 American history stories as well as 4 bonus stories. Each story (or chapter) is six pages and includes a digging deeper section. In the digging deeper section, students will answer some questions about the reading and get an opportunity to learn more about the topic covered in that particular story. Some of the digging deeper activities include research projects and hands-on activities.
From Christopher Columbus to the French and Indian War to the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the Pony Express to the Navajo Code Talkers, students will visit key moments in American history through a Christian worldview.
Uncover Exciting History is available in two formats: e-book for $14.95 and printed for $16.50. You can download a Table of Contents and download a Sample Chapter. You can also sign up for Amy’s e-zine (newsletter) which I highly recommend as it’s filled with great information, and she holds fun contests where you can win free products. While you are over at her website, make sure you check out her free history resources and other great products.
About the Author:
Amy Puetz (pronounced Pitts) is a homeschool graduate, a self-taught historian, and a servant of Jesus Christ. History has been a passion for her since childhood. Years of in-depth study (both in modern and old sources) have equipped her to write history-related books. Amy Puetz is the author of Uncover Exciting History: Revealing America’s Christian Heritage in Short, Easy-to-Read Nuggets and Countdown to Christmas: Memory Making Stories and Activities for Every Day from December 1st to the 25th. As a columnist for Home School Enrichment Magazine she shares stories about historical events from a Christian worldview. She especially loves to dig for little-known stories that show God’s providential hand. Because of a chronic illness (fibromyalgia) that limits what she can do, the Lord led her to start an online business which she can do from home. She is the author of several e-books. In her spare time she enjoys sewing and reading. Visit her Web site at www.AmyPuetz.com to see many resources relating to history. She also publishes a bimonthly e-zine for ladies of all ages, called Heroines of the Past.
I received the Uncover Exciting History e-book as part of MamaBuzz in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.

I commented on this post when it was new, but I thought it didn’t go through. Anyway, I ordered this book from Amazon and it arrived this week. It looks great and I can’t wait to start using it!
