Lesson Planet is designed to help teachers find lesson plans and other necessary teaching tools fast. It is a search engine for teachers. Using various techniques, teachers can narrow down their search results to hone in on the type of materials they need.
In addition to searching for teaching tools, teachers can also make their own resources by utilizing different web-based tools such as LessonMaker and NewsletterMaker. Lesson Planet has a homeschool guide as well as a curriculum calendar.
Lesson Planet costs $39.95 per year, but the offer a 10 day free trial so you can see if the service is right for you.
My thoughts:
For me personally, the search feature of site did not have much value. I can find most of the resources quickly by doing an internet search on my own. The idea behind it is to save time on your searching, so for some people this will have value. I’ve just gotten so use to finding more own resources that I can find them just as quickly by doing a normal internet search.
The one feature that I really liked was the curriculum calendar. In the curriculum calendar, a different lesson idea is highlighted for each day of the month. The calendar contains links to the original idea as well as other related lesson ideas.
Overall, this would not be a good fit for me. Other crew members did not share the same opinion, so you’ll want to check out their reviews as well.
I received free trial of Lesson Planet as a member of the TOS Crew in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
