A Fun Bestie Surprise

Best Friends

On Tuesday, I received a text message from Munchkin’s best friend’s mom (who, for now, lives in North Carolina). They were heading through our neck of the woods after visiting with family, and there was the possibility that we would be able to meet up. Back and forth the texting went as we plotted behind our daughter’s backs to get the two of them together if only for a short period of time as they made their way from point A to point B.

It was hard not to say anything as I was excited that Munchkin was going to get to see her best friend. (I admit that I was pretty excited that our families would be able to get together as I miss our old neighbors who, quite frankly, are like family in many ways.) I kept checking my watch for the time as we were stuck at the video shoot, and I did not want to miss this opportunity to meet up. (Yes, they would have waited if we got hung up a bit, but I knew they had a drive ahead of them and didn’t want to hold them up.) When D let me know he was home, I sent him a little “help” message, so he could pick up Munchkin while I wrapped things up with taking the horses back to the ranch. He was happy to help out when I filled him in on the details.

Best Friends - A&M

I was told the girls reunion was quite good. Apparently, Munchkin put 2&2 together due to a little slip from someone, so by the time she and Daddy got to Sonic, she knew that she was going to see her best friend. A, on the other hand, had no idea. Munchkin went over and looked at her. A couldn’t figure out why this person was staring at her at first. Slowly, she started to recognize Munchkin and then she got super excited to see her. (I showed up a little while after the surprise reunion.) The girls had a blast talking and doing a little catching up as did we older folks. 😉 Boy have we missed these guys. I’m so thankful that they took the time for a brief detour to see us. 🙂
