Visiting the Grand Canyon with Grandma and Grandpa

Family at the Grand Canyon

When D learned that Grandma and Grandpa had not been to the Grand Canyon on a clear day, he checked the weather to see what it was going to be like at the Canyon the next day. When it saw a clear forecast, plans were made to head over to the Grand Canyon for the day.

Grand Canyon

The weather was crisp and clear in the morning. The temperatures warmed up a little during the day, but it was still cool. It was a beautiful day for observing the Grand Canyon.

Snow at the Grand Canyon

When we first arrived, we headed over to the visitor’s center. Last time we were here, they were still renovating everything, so it was nice to see it all done. They did a great job. (I love seeing snow at the Canyon. You just have to watch out for the icy paths.)

Muledeer

On our way out to look at the rim, we ran across some beautiful muledeer who were sunning themselves in the clearing.

Moon over Grand Canyon

I was excited to see the moon over the Canyon as it’s a shot that I’ve always wanted to get. Granted, it would have been nicer if it was closer to the rim, but I was happy just the same. 😉

Munchkin looking over Grand Canyon

We made our way stop-by-stop to Hermit’s Rest where we enjoyed hot chocolate and mocha.

Elk

On our way out, we saw a herd of elk which meant that we needed to turn around, so we could get a closer look.

Elk

The longer we stood there, the more elk showed up. They are such beautiful (and big) creatures. It was a great ending to our day at the Grand Canyon.
