As Munchkin’s graduation date quickly approaches, we’re spending time wrapping up her high school studies and planning for her graduation party. I’m searching for meaningful gifts that I believe will help her in the future. When I graduated (many years ago), I received a variety of different “for the graduate” books, and I enjoyed reading the different quotes and words of wisdom contained within.
Max Lucado has taken the traditional words of wisdom and turned them into something a little more special. This book, while perfect for the graduate, can be used for anyone starting a new journey, a new adventure in their life.
The book is broken down into 5 different sections:

- Stop, Look, and Listen — Good Habits for a Good Journey
- A Fork in the Road – Deciding Which Way to Go
- Dangers and Detours Ahead — Slow Down, Avoid Disaster

Within those sections, you’ll find words of encouragement and wisdom presented in a conversational style. Key points are highlighted. I could definitely see writing these sayings, quotes, verses onto post-it notes or notecards as reminders throughout life’s journey. Knowing me, I would probably make some sort of graphic and print it out. In fact, I may make some post card sized graphics for Munchkin and print them onto card stock.
The end of the book has a place to write down a personalized prayer for the book owner’s life. It has a journal for recording 3-month goals, 6-month goals, 1-year goals, 2-year goals, 4-year goals, and lifetime goals. It also has a place to record the steps taken towards reaching each of those goals. Finally, there is a spot to record favorite scriptures, quotes, poems, and sayings.
