New Glasses for Munchkin

Posted in Family

With a new prescription in hand, we headed to find new frames for Munchkin. Little did we know that it was going to be a long, drawn-out process. She did not want little glasses which is what the vast majority of the frames were in the store, and I didn’t want to pay a crazy amount for the frames. This combination lead to a crazy search for frames that would work for her. Finally, we stumbled across some clearance prescription sunglasses frames that she really liked. A few days later, she was sporting her new glasses. The transition from her…

A Closer Look at Biblical Reproductions

Posted in Reviews

Last week, I introduced you to a company called Biblical Reproductions. As I mentioned, we’re going to be reviewing one of their reproductions in the near future. (No, I’m not sharing which one yet even though we now have it in our hands. I will say that it’s pretty cool.) Today, I’m going to take a closer look at the website set-up for Biblical Reproductions. Mission Statement: Biblical Reproductions Inc. was created to bring the opportunity for the public to own reproductions of key artifacts excavated in the Holy Land, – many of which provide external confirmations to the Bible.…

Asian Black Beans and Rice

Posted in Gluten Free

I had put brown rice in the rice cooker earlier in the day, but I had forgotten to get out the protein (chicken) from the freezer. Supper time was almost upon us, so I needed to do some quick thinking on what we were going to have. While I’m trying to get in the habit of using dried beans more often, I admit that I still keep canned beans on hand. They’re quick and easy. Plus, Munchkin really likes to eat canned beans for snacks. (Yes, I realize that is a bit odd, but she likes her fruits and veggies.…

Homeschool Review: Week Ending 2/7/14

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

It’s hard to believe that we’re getting ready to head into the second week of February. Where has time gone? This month has found us finishing up some homeschool subjects/curriculum while starting others. Munchkin wrapped up her Analytical Grammar studies this week. She found that who and whom are not her friends, but otherwise did quite well with her final. We’ll be continuing to review grammar with the Analytical Grammar Review and Reinforcement book. We may use one of their High School Reinforcement books next year, but I haven’t decided yet. She’s continuing with her Biblical Archaeology studies which she…

Book Review: Six Days by Ken Ham

Posted in Reviews

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. A positive review is not expected nor guaranteed. All opinions are my own. Six Days Book Description: Today, most Bible colleges, seminaries, K-12 Christian schools, and now even parts of the homeschool movement do not accept the first eleven chapters of Genesis as literal history. They try to fit the supposed billions of years into Genesis, and some teach evolution as fact. Our churches are largely following suit. Ken Ham, international speaker and author on biblical authority, examines how compromise starting…
