Cabin Update: Shower

Rustic Tile Shower

We finally finished up the tiling in the bathroom shower during our time at the cabin. I can say, without a doubt, that I do not like tiling. lol! Doing grout – especially on those lovely river rocks – is also pretty low on my remodeling fun list. 😉 That being said, we are happy that the shower came together as we pictured. We still need to do some finish work like caulk and trim. We also need to eventually put up the glass panels, but we may just put up a shower curtain for now. The good news is that this completes the work on the bathroom that was messed up due to the burst pipe. We’ve pretty much got the cabin back together.

Does that mean that the work around the cabin is done? Not exactly. We still have things that need to be done, but they aren’t projects related to the flooding. They are also things that can be done at a low cost over time. It’s definitely nice to see the bright light at the end of this crazy, year-long tunnel.

I am looking for tile for the shower in my cabin. Could you share what this type is called and where you bought it? Thanks.

    • We used 18 X 18 Style Selections Canyon Espresso Porcelain Floor and Wall Tiles for the bathroom floor and shower stalls. (I believe it was the Espresso, but it could have been one of the other shades.) For the floor of the shower, we used Solistone Anatolia Pebbles Rumi Mosaic Floor Tile. They are both available at Lowes. The pebble tiles are great for the shower floor, but they are not fun to install.

Great thank you. I might have missed it because I was looking at 12x12s. One more question if you don’t mind – some people say Mapei mastic premixed is ok for shower walls; others say no, get a bag of mortar and mix it yourself. What did you use for adhesive on the walls? I’m using 1/2″ thick hardi backer and probably a waterproofing treatment like Redgard. Thank you!
