Our Rustic Bathroom Vanity

When we first purchased our cabin, we had a lot of clean-up to do around the house and under the porch. While we were doing the clean-up, we discovered a lot of wood that was used during the building of the house. Some of it was too far gone to be able to use, but we were able to save several large pieces that we thought we could use for some project later. We weren’t sure what we would use them for, but it seemed a shame to get rid of beautiful, rustic wood, so it was set aside in a wood pile in the garage.

Little did we know at the time that we would be redoing the bathroom due to the burst pipe which cause flooding and major damage in the house. As you know, the burst pipe happened in November, and we’ve been working here and there on getting the cabin put back together since then. We needed a new vanity, and once I showed D what I was wanting, he decided that he would build it for me. That old wood that we found under the porch would be perfect for the job.

Because I wanted a rustic look, we weren’t going for perfection with the piece. D used the chainsaw to put the notches in the wood legs due to them being so thick. Some of the wood was warped from age and water, yet when it came together, it was just what we wanted for the bathroom.

We paired the rustic vanity with a vessel glass sink and a pump-look faucet to finish off the look. I’m using the vintage-look blue Ball canning jars for our cotton balls, cotton swabs…, and placed them in a canning jar carrier to complete the look.

Slowly the bathroom is coming together. I just need to complete all the tile work in the shower stall (which is taking a while as I’m not experienced at tile work) and then we’ll order the glass shower panels. I can’t wait to see how it all looks when it’s done. 🙂
