We now live in an area where rock climbing is a big activity. Because of this, the base has a really nice rock wall climbing area in the gym. Daddy has been doing this as part of his regular workout during the week, and he wanted Munchkin to try it out with him.
The gym has limited hours for kids (under 16) climbing. They can only climb during family hours on Friday night, Saturday morning, or Sunday morning.
Because of his work schedule, it didn’t work out for Munchkin to try it out until Friday night. After Daddy got home from work, we headed over to the base gym, and Munchkin was briefed on climbing, filled out some paperwork, and was given her harness as well as some climbing shoes.
At first, Munchkin did all of the climbing with her regular tennis shoes. Eventually, she did end up trying out the climbing shoes, and she found it was much easier to climb with them. Munchkin’s stubbornness found her making it to the top of a couple of places on the rock wall.
We learned that Munchkin can take an orientation class for teens which would allow her to climb whenever she wanted with Daddy, so she may be taking that class at some point. It would be much easier than trying to come in during the specific family hours.
