On Monday afternoon, shortly after Munchkin and I had left the horse rescue for the day, a big windstorm came through the ranch. A wind funnel/dust devil ripped through the pasture taking out stalls and shade structures. The one set of stalls crashed through the fence causing some major damage to the fence.
Thankfully, no one was hurt even though there were a couple of volunteers who were in a stall near the stalls that were taken out. Even the horses were okay; they were just really spooked and running around like a wild herd of horses.
Sadly, this all came at a time where we are getting ready for the big Open House and Whoa Down for Hay event on Saturday, so in addition to the regular preparations, we’re going to be doing a good bit of clean-up as well. Once the insurance company comes out, the real clean-up will begin. For now, we’ll continue to prepare for the big event on Saturday and be grateful for the safety of all involved with the crazy storm.
