We’ve Got Orders – 29 Palms

Posted in Family, and Military Life

Last month, we were shocked when we learned that D’s orders were already in the system. Ironically, it happened on his birthday, so that was pretty cool. More often then not, we end up not having too much lead time before we have to move, so this was a pleasant surprise. Because it’s not too far away from here, we will be able to do some house hunting ahead of time which is a good thing since the wait time for base housing right now is 12-18 months. We’re only slated to be there for 24 months. lol! When we…

A Lesson in Polymers: Making Slime with Borax

Posted in Homeschooling

It’s always fun to be able to do a hands-on science experiment that uses simple ingredients. When you add in the fact that you can actually play with the science experiment, well, it just adds to the excitement. When I received a box of Borax as a member of the Purex Insiders program, I thought it would be fun to do something out of the ordinary with it. In the past, I would just look at the pictures and then recreate them. This time, I started to use the techniques shown in the books as I wanted to try to get good at drawing people and also work on animals. Since…

Gluten Free Parmesan Chicken Recipe

Posted in Gluten Free, and Homemaking

I recently saw a recipe for Parmesan Chicken using Hellman’s mayonnaise that reminded me of something that my mom made for me as a child. It used simple ingredients, but I needed to change it up slightly to make it gluten free. While the original recipe featured mayonnaise, my mom often used sour cream as we had it on hand. To make my gluten free version, I swapped out the bread crumbs with grated Parmesan cheese with herbs. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but the empty plates and empty pan spoke for themselves. It was…
