Think

Last night, I was reading through a book on manners by Maralee McKee that I had received to review when I came across this acrostic. I knew that I wanted to create something to print out and put up in our home because I really liked it. I believe that it’s good to have visual reminders up around the house to help us fight the good fight.

T – Is It True?
H – Is It Helpful?
I – Is It Inspirational?
N – Is It Necessary?
K – Is It Kind?

In Philippians 4:8 we read:

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

And Psalm 19:14 we read:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Scripture is pretty clear that we need to be guarding our hearts, minds, and mouths. It’s not always an easy task though, so it’s good to have reminders up to prick our hearts and encourage us to do what is honorable in the Lord’s sight.

I am, once again, grateful for the people and resources that He brings into my life to bring to light things that I need to diligently work on in my walk with Him and in my home. Being a parent is a big responsibility that should never be taken lightly. I am always leading by example whether or not I want to. I need to make sure that my actions, my words reflect Biblical teachings and not my sinful nature.
