Notebooking Through the States

Posted in Homeschooling

A few years ago, I created our United States Lapbook which worked nicely for learning about the states and for review. Now that Munchkin is working more on notebooking than on lapbooking, I thought it would be nice to start creating some notebooking pages for studying the different states. This Notebooking Through the States set includes notebooking pages for each of the states as well as activity pages, puzzles, word searches, and more. I’ve also added generic pages that allow for use with any state.

Free state notebooking pages and state activities for homeschool and classroom use.

State Information Resources

Here are some of the resources that work for gathering information to fill out the notebooking pages as well as activities to put in the state notebook:

  • Which Way USA? (from the publishers of Highlights magazine)
  • Scholastic Atlas of the United States
  • Scholastic Encyclopedia of the United States
  • The 50 States Fast Fact Book (Level 3 Reader from Target dollar section)
  • United States of America workbook (Target dollar section)
  • 50 Amazing U.S. Mazes by Dan Nevins
  • Kids Learn America! by Patricia Gordon & Reed C. Snow
  • The Complete Book of United States History (McGraw-Hill Children’s Publishing)

The Notebooking Through the States notebooking pages are now part of the Marine Corps Nomads Homeschool Resource Library. They’re still free, but they’re now hosted right here. All of the free homeschool resources are available in one easy-access location. You can sign up for free access to the resource library below.

Hi Heather! Thank you for adding more states to your “Notebooking Through the States”. I am not able to click on the Georgia link for the pages…it takes you somewhere else. Just FYI 🙂
Looking forward to more in the future as you get time, thanks again.

Hi there! Thank you for such an amazing resource!!! I am just curious, how much time did you take to get through notebooking all 50 states? Was it during one school “year” or did you lengthen it into the next grade level(s)? I’m excited to use this but don’t want to go too fast, and keep it fun! 🙂

    • We just took our time. Some states were studied more in-depth than others. It probably took two or so years to get through all the states with averaging 1 state per week. You could easy spend more or less time on each state.
