Gluten Free Sante Nuts

Posted in Gluten Free, and Reviews

candied pecansFinding healthy snacking options other than fruits and veggies is not always easy.  A handful of nuts is a nice alternative when you’re craving something crunchy, but sometimes it’s nice when you can kick up the flavor a notch or two.

Recently, we received a sampler pack of nuts from Sante.  I really like that Sante started in a stay-at-home mom’s kitchen and took off from there.  Even with the success, Sante has continued to maintain the same process and used the high quality ingredients as when the nuts were made in the home kitchen.  And yes, the nuts are all still hand roasted in small batches.  Sante uses a special technique which allows them to use less oil during the processing of the nuts.  The end result is a healthier nut with less fat and more crunch.  Yum!candied walnuts

I would love to share pictures of the actual product in our home, but the truth is that these were gobbled up so quickly that all I had left was empty bags.  I didn’t think that you’d really want to see empty bags.  **grin**  I can say that these are probably some of the tastiest nuts that we’ve even eaten.  They were all light and crunchy.  There were no hard nuts in any of the bags.

Whether you’re looking for a sweet or savory treat, Sante has you covered.  They offer 4 different varieties of nuts: candied walnuts, candied pecans, garlic almonds, and roasted salted pecans.  Both the candied walnuts and candied pecans have just the right blend of sweet and salty combined into one.  I appreciated the fact that although they are candied nuts they weren’t overly sweet, and they didn’t have that hard coating that several other candied nuts often have.  They were just light and crisp – a perfect texture.

garlic almondsThe garlic almonds were a special treat as they had a kick to them.  The garlic flavor was pronounced without over powering the pecan.  The slight heat is balanced nicely with just a touch of sweet.  These seemed to last a bit longer as not as many could be eaten at once.  I enjoyed these in the evening as a late night treat.

The roasted salted pecans also had a lovely blend of sweet/salty going on.  As I stated before, I’m sensitive to too much salt in products, so I really appreciated the light hand used in salting these nuts.  That being said, both D and Munchkin also felt these pecans had just the right amount of salt, and they enjoy foods a bit more salty than myself.  I’m not sure how they did it, but the pecans felt “just right” for all of our taste buds.

From now until December 16, 2011, you can receive 25% off your Sante nut order by using the code 2011-Blog-045.

I received a sampler pack of Sante nuts to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review.  A positive review in not guaranteed, and all opinions are my own.
