Coffee or Tea Anyone?

KeurigProject 365 – #244

Our neighbors have a Keurig which D thought was pretty nice, but he never thought it would be a good fit for him.  Then, when my Dad and stepmom starting giving rave reviews for their Keurig, he started thinking about it, a little.  His major hang up is that he drinks a good bit of coffee.  He makes a large pot in the morning and takes most of it to work with him.  He didn’t think the Keurig would fit with his normal routine.  When we were on vacation, my Dad talked about how he actually drank less coffee now that they had the Keurig plus the quality of the coffee was better.  D still wasn’t sure that it was right for him, but he started to actually consider it.

He thought about it for some time, and finally decided that he would give it a try.  Now, he’s thrilled to have it.  He does drink less coffee.  Plus, he’s able to easily have a really good cup of tea in the evening before bed.  My job?  To find the most affordable place to purchase cups.  He does have the reusable cup which allows him to use his own coffee, but I think he really likes being able to just pop the cup into the Keurig. **wink**  Munchkin is looking forward to making some hot chocolate when the weather gets cooler.

So, we’ve now become another household who is using the Keurig.  If you use the Keurig, where do you purchase your cups and which ones are your favorites?

  1. Congratulations on your new family member. I LOVE my Keurig. Coffee’s always on!

We get our’s through coffeewiz.com . They have a HUGE selection (mocha nut fudge is my favorite). They also have Mott’s brand hot apple cider in 3 different flavors. Morgan loves them.

We got a Keurig as a gift from my parents at Christmas and LOVE it. I didn’t used to drink much coffee, but now I am hooked. Make sure you register your machine with Keurig….they used to give 2 free boxes when you bought 2 after you registered the machine. We usually buy our K-cups from Bed Bath and Beyond with a coupon for 20 percent off or $5 off of $15. Sam’s Club sells them too. Ends up about $.50/cup. Keeps us posted if you find a really good price somewhere.

    • We purchased our machine from Sam’s Club as it was the best value because it came with 60 cups (I think) and the reusable cup. I hadn’t thought about BB&B. That’s a good idea. 🙂 I think my husband registered it, but I’ll have to verify that just to be on the safe side. 😉

    • Munchkin made that for her Daddy several years ago at a pottery shop. It’s Daddy’s favorite mug. 🙂

  4. My parents have one and were going to get my husband one for his birthday. But, he like your husband, didn’t think it would be a good fit. He makes a pot in the morning and puts it in his thermos to drink at work so he can have good coffee..,.then he drinks no more.

However, I’d love to have one to make my tea and hot chocolate… and now I find out they have cider. We might have to rethink this.

I don’t know where my Dad gets his cups but for awhile he thought “he had one over them” when he was RINSING THE USED CUPS and reusing them. But he had a reuseble one????? Crazy man.

    • He may not have had the reusable one as not all of them come with it; you can buy them separately. I’m impressed that he was able to reuse the cups without making a mess. I’ve been told it can be a messy endeavor due to the way they work.

  5. We have one and love it! I’m out of cups right now though, but we do have the reusable cup, which I will use when I am out. I’m not sure where to buy them at the best price. I don’t drink coffee everyday and hubby drinks most of his at work, except on the weekends. Not sure if you have ever done it, but I get two cups of coffee out of one k cup and the second cup tastes just as good as the first. 🙂

    • Hubby likes his coffee fairly dark, so I don’t know that getting two cups out of it would work. It may depend on what size of cup you’re making? I don’t know since I don’t drink coffee. lol!
