Review: Seek and Find Bible

Posted in Reviews

Seek and Find BibleI admit when I first received this Bible to review I was thinking that it was just another kids Bible. You know – the ones that have been simplified and don’t contain the complete scripture.  Boy was I wrong.  The Seek and Find Bible is really cool!  It contains the complete Bible text using the Eastern Standard Version (ESV), but it also contains Bible stories and lovely illustrations.

The Bible stories help summarize the scripture.  At the end of the Bible story, the actual scripture passage is given, so they can read the full Biblical account.  It also highlights a key verse and gives discussion questions.  A selection of related Bible readings are given in case the child would like to dig deeper into the scriptures.  If you or your child are looking for a particular story, there is a handy index of stories in the back of the book.  There is also a dictionary with includes the definition, a sentence with the word used in it, and some verses containing the word.  Finally, there are 8 full color maps:

  • The Lands of the Patriarchs
  • The Exodus from Egypt
  • The Lands Assigned to the Tribes of Israel
  • The Kingdom of Saul, David, and Solomon
  • The Divided Kingdom of Israel and Judah
  • The City of Jerusalem
  • The Land of Israel during the New Testament
  • Places Paul Visited

Also included in the pages of this Bible are:

  • 150 full page illustrations (paintings),
  • character profiles with pictures,
  • Bible places, structures, and objects with illustrations,
  • and Bible book introductions.

The Bible is a colorful hardcover book with a dust jacket.  The one negative that I could possibly see with this Bible would be the size of print.  It’s not a tiny print, but many readers at the target age group of 5 to 9-year-olds will probably like a slightly larger print.

Overall, I am impressed with this kids Bible because it is the full ESV Bible that has been enhanced by beautiful illustrations and Bible stories.  It’s not a dumbed down version for kids.  I would have loved to have this available when Munchkin was younger.

I received a copy of this book as a member of the Crossway Book Review Program to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. A positive review is not guaranteed, and all opinions are my own.
