Eternal Encouragement with snack

As I started to think about how to pen this post, I found myself wishing that I was at home listening to Munchkin play with her friend.  I would have loved to be relaxing in a comfy chair, sipping on some cold lemonade, and reading my new magazine.  Instead, I found myself sitting in the hospital waiting room as D got his pre-operation blood work and other tests done.  After we were done at the hospital, we headed over to our meeting with the surgeon who would be performing the back surgery.

We arrived a bit early and the surgeon was running a little behind, so the wait began.  I was glad that I had tucked my Eternal Encouragement magazine in my purse.  When TEACH magazine became Eternal Encouragement, they decided to overhaul the magazine.  I love the new smaller size as it’s much easier to take it with me when I’m out and about.

D sat there and played games on his phone while I read.  It was nice to lose myself in the uplifting articles.  I needed something to take my mind off everything that was going on right then.  At one point, I started to laugh about an article – It Is Too Rocket Science.  He looked at me a little funny, so I handed him the magazine so he could see what I was chuckling about.  He started to grin as he read it.  A few minutes later, the doctor showed up, so I slipped the magazine back into my purse….

Eternal Encouragement

This month’s magazine hit close to home for me.  The theme?  Time Flies.  We celebrated Munchkin’s birthday this week, so that was a huge reminder of how quickly time passes.  We’re preparing for D’s surgery – yet another reminder of how time flies.  Sometimes, we get so caught up in the day-to-day activities that we forget to treasure the special moments….  Holding Munchkin’s hand as we walk through the store.  D kissing me good morning before he heads to work.  Munchkin and D messing around and driving me crazy.  These are all things to treasure.

Time

As we prepare for D’s back surgery and all of the changes that will bring, it’s good to be reminded to treasure the moments – good and bad. It’s wonderful to be encouraged as I take on a slightly different role of caregiver as well as homemaker and homeschool mom.  Words of wisdom and encouragement are welcomed as I know there will be some rocky days ahead.  I can find comfort in the Lord, in His Word, and from those who have traveled the road before me.  We’re entering a different season, but there is a time and purpose for everything the Lord brings into our lives.

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1
